Woolrich Men's Field Coat

Cowboys are by nature, outdoorsy, therefore they appreciate and know the importance of rugged clothing that can stand up to the rigors of outdoor life, and do what they are required to do, protect the wearer from the elements. That's why cowboys and other outdoorsmen and women appreciate clothes like the ones made by Woolrich. Woolrich has been making quality outdoor clothing for over 178 years. In 1830 a man named John Rich, an english immigrant, built a woolen mill in Plum Run, Pennsylvania. From there he made frequent visits to the lumber camps in the area, selling his woolen fabric, socks, coverlets and yarn to the lumbermen, who knew the importance and warmth and comfort to be found in wool. From that point on, the rest is history, the company went on to become synonomous with outdoor clothing, and in fact, the little community where Rich started his first mill, actually became, Woolrich, Pennslyvania. They supplied clothes to outdoorsmen, loggers, and even the Union Army during the civil war, adding more and more products as time went on.

The good news is, the Woolrich is still in business, still making great outdoorswear. I actually own two Woolrich coats that belonged to my father and my father's uncle and both, now at least 40 or 50 years old, are still servicable.
